Conservatory - How Much Will it Cost?
Most bespoke conservatories installed by specialist suppliers usually forming a division
of the replacement window company as well, can be just as expensive as having a properly built house extension when
extending a property into habitable room space for example.
It must always be remembered that a conservatory is not considered to be a habitable room under Building
Regulations so why, I often ask, would anyone consider a ‘bolt on’ conservatory when the cost is near the same as
for a ‘proper’ house extension that will outlast the conservatory & probably be a better use of space?
Every home owner asks themselves how much will a conservatory cost and one sure way of ensuring that you are
obtaining like for like prices is to have your own conservatory extension drawings prepared by your own design
agent. You can then punt these schematic designs around to the various suppliers an installers.
How much a conservatory will cost is very much dependant upon the quality of the framing, glass, extent of
foundations or wet trades and access to the site area. Many gardens have restricted access that may require a lot
of hand excavations or lifting over obstructions using a crane for example.
If you really want to keep your conservatory costs down you can always consider purchasing a conservatory kit
from the likes of Wickes and other DIY suppliers.
